Nine months later he went to see her. For a while he stood looking at her, saying nothing. She looked calm, serene. There was a time when he loved looking at her, a time when he loved her. That was nine months ago. He looked up at the sky. A few seconds passed. Finally he spoke.
“I don’t know whether I will ever forgive you.” He said, without looking at her. “I don’t know whether I’ll ever come running into your arms, let you embrace me. I don’t know whether I will love you again the way I did once. May be one day I will. May be that day will never come.” A few minutes of silence. He looked down at her.
“There was a time when you calmed me down, no matter what. There was a time when you made me smile. And then I hated you. With every fibre in my body. Today I realized I don’t hate you anymore. But will I ever love you again, I do not know. Only time will tell.”
He turned his back and walked away from her. Then he stopped and turned, to look at the sea again. She was still calm, serene. As if she was apologizing for taking away his friend. As if she was sorry. He smiled sadly and left her.
